Prof. Birol Emil graduated from Istanbul University, Turkish Language and Literature Department in 1959. Prof. Emil took his PhD in the area of Modern Turkish Literature in 1967. He was entitled to take his associate professorship in 1977 and his professorship in the same scientific field in 1982. He worked as visiting scholar in The University of Warsaw, Turcology Department between 1980 and 1982. In 1983 Prof. Emil was appointed to Van Yüzüncü Yıl University and served as Chair of Department, Dean of Science and Letters Faculty, Director of Social Sciences Institute and Vice Rector. Prof. Emil served as faculty member and Chair of Department in Atatürk Education Faculty of Marmara University between 1987 and 2000. He served as faculty member in Near Eastern University (1996-1997, 2000-2001), Arel University (2012-2016) and Istanbul Kültür University (2012-2016). Prof. Emil serves as faculty member in Haliç University, Turkish Language and Literature Department, who is also the founding chair of the department. Prof. Emil published various articles, academic books, anthologies and translations throughout his academic life.
